Thomas J. Smith has been accepted into
the graduate program at the School of
Visual Arts in New York
City
for the fall of 2006. SVA offers an ideal location,

Earlier this month Thomas was nominated
for a grant from the trustees of the Jacques and Natasha Gelman
Trust and on April 14th, he was named as one of ten finalists. This prestigious
Travel Award of
$25,000 is based solely on merit and talent. The award process
includes nominations from chairs in MICA's fine arts and
illustration departments and the 10
finalists are identified during MICA's campus-wide Commencement Exhibition,
which runs Friday, May 12 – Monday, May 15. The College will draw upon
visiting artists and critics to juror the finalists in the exhibition.
The award recipient will be announced during MICA's commencement ceremony
on Monday, May 15 in the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall.
